This is a personal testimony
Type 2 diabetes strikes twice as many women as men over the age of forty-five. In people with type 2 diabetes the more common form of the condition, the pancreas produces insufficient levels of the hormone insulin to process glucose (sugar), or blood sugar, the chief source of energy for all of the body's cells.
When I started seriously dealing with the diabetes I did an internal cleanse(Swanson Products). Which was followed with a fasting of white foods, pasta, bread, any foods that were white. I found out that the white pastas and breads were made from wheat that was processed into white flour. These products turn to sugar very quickly in the bloodstream having almost no fiber. Therefore causing your blood sugar to spike.
I began to drink more water I started with flavored than went on to spring, 16 8oz glasses a day. Protein drinks I then added with Lean meats, Brown rice, Colored pasta and Legumes (beans), which are one of the best forms of protein for the body. Than the addition of Vegetables and fruits.
I know that you have heard that you get your nutrients from fresh vegetables and fruits which is true.
The question is how much do you have to eat,I'll give some information at another time but believe me IT'S MORE THAN YOU WOULD WANT TO EAT.
Realizing this I decided to supplement my diet with nutritionals/vitamins.First there were liquid vitamins because of absorption.Second, supplements for various body systems ( digestive, endocrine, circulatory) ETC.
That was expensive and imagine twenty bottles with the supplements you take everyday.
Swanson and Vitality provided me with these because they were mail order,I got home from work and they were there.
Last August I was introduced to Usana's Essentials and being given information on the quality and absorpabilty compared to the others became important. These are things I never considered before and being shown The Guide to Nutritional Supplements, which is a book that rates 1,500 nutritionals.
Today with the Essentials having a healthy diet and exercise I feel better then I have In the past ten years I'm 50.
The cells also may become resistant to the effects of the little insulin there is the in the bloodstream. Obesity is the most common risk factor for the condition, second being the lack of exercise and heredity. It has been shown that depression and stress have an important role in women's eating habits. Sugar and fatty foods cause an increase in brain chemicals that temporarily make you feel good. These are the foods that lead to both obesity and diabetes.
Diet is critical to the prevention and management of diabetes. It is important to limit your consumption of sugar and white flour. Concentrated forms of simple carbohydrates like honey, processed fruit juices and some dairy products such as butter, cheese and ice cream block insulin activity. These products should be strictly limited or avoided.
The intake of fiber should be increased which is a important component in combating diabetes as it slows the release of sugar into the bloodstream. Eat plenty of fresh whole vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains.
Keeping blood sugar and protein levels steady on an even keel helps to reduce cravings for sweets.
When a sweet tooth has to be satisfied use sugarless products. Stevia for instance.
I was taking what I thought too much medication for all the symptoms I had. High blood sugar, high blood pressure, depression etc. I started to do research on what the body needed to live and what killed it. The herbal solutions were the first and at the time the least expensive, I was in college at the time. The bulk teas were the first, the taste wasn't very good and the research was from the books at the herbal shops.
Then I began to take classes at college first just as an elective then because of there content.
After the herbals I started to look at the different pytochemicals, antioxidants and anti-inflammitories affected the various body systems.
